Community Mental Health of Central Michigan works with children with Medicaid as their primary or secondary insurance. Children up to age 21 who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder through an ADOS evaluation qualify to receive Applied Behavior Analysis therapy. Families may opt to have their children receive ABA at the Pediatric Center, at home, a combination, or through other CMHCM providers.
At the Pediatric Center children receive a range of 2-20 hours of ABA per week, provided by trained behavior technicians and behavior analysts. The 1:1 therapy includes building pre-academic, verbal behavior and social skills, as well as tolerance, instructional control, and compliance. Behaviors such as tantrums, aggression, or self-injurious behaviors, are analyzed and staff works to develop replacement behaviors to decrease the problem behaviors.
